How we check who said it
Kind words deserve the right name on them. Every meme on this site carries one of five labels, so you always know how sure we are.
Questions people ask
Why do so many kindness quotes have the wrong name on them?
A saying often gets credited to a famous person because the name makes it travel further. Over years of sharing, the guess becomes the accepted name. We check before we credit.
What do you check a quote against?
The person's own writing or a recording of them saying it, reference collections such as Wikiquote, and published research into a quote's history such as Quote Investigator.
What happens when you can't find the source?
We say so. The page shows 'Author unknown' or 'Traditionally attributed' rather than guessing.
